Security, privacy and permissions

What the Cooee connector can access, how sign-in and permissions work, where your data goes, and how to remove access.

Written by Shashank Agrawal

Is it read-only?

Yes. Every tool only reads data. Nothing the assistant does through the connector can create, change or delete anything in Cooee or in your Shopify store. This is the same in Claude, ChatGPT and any other AI tool.

What can it access?

Only the stores your Cooee dashboard account can already access. The connector never gives you access to anything the dashboard doesn't. Within those stores it can read store details, analytics totals, campaigns and experiments, and your product catalogue.

It returns aggregated data only: counts, rates and revenue totals. It never returns shopper names, emails, phone numbers, addresses or individual orders. See Data Privacy & PII FAQs.

How does sign-in work?

The connector uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, the standard used by most business apps that connect to AI tools. You sign in on Cooee's own sign-in page with your existing Cooee account, so your password is never shared with Claude, ChatGPT or any other AI tool. The AI tool receives a time-limited access token that it renews automatically while you stay connected.

What permissions are requested?

Permission

Allows the assistant to read

Store read

Store name, domain, timezone, currency and plan

Analytics read

Revenue, orders, sessions, funnel and landing page reports, and the Cooee impact report

Campaign read

Campaigns and experiments, with their results

Product read

Product names, prices and product-level shopping activity

You approve all of the requested permissions together on the consent screen. If a tool is missing later, disconnect and connect again, then approve all permissions.

Where does my data go?

When you ask a question, the data needed to answer it is sent to the AI tool you are using, such as Claude or ChatGPT. That provider handles it under its own terms and your account's data settings. Cooee receives only the assistant's requests for data, such as which report and date range, not your conversation.

Who can connect?

Any member of your Cooee dashboard, using their own account. Each person connects separately and sees only the stores they have access to.

In a Claude Team or Enterprise organisation, or a ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin may add Cooee once for everyone. Each member still signs in with their own Cooee account, so the admin's access is never shared.

How do I remove access?

  • Disconnect your own AI tool: in Claude, open Settings → Connectors, select Cooee and disconnect or remove it. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins, select Cooee and disconnect or remove it.

  • Remove a team member: remove them from your store in the Cooee dashboard. The connector checks access on every request, so they lose access to your store's data straight away.

  • Suspect misuse? Contact Cooee support and we will disable the account's access immediately.
